Debut Single - OUT NOW !!

If We Fall

Live

Highlights

Formed in ‘23, Affection to Rent’s unique brand of grunge fuses dark winding vocal melodies with a warm wash of nostalgia.

Their debut single ‘If We Fall’ was released this September 27th and became Dan Hegarty's track of the week on RTE2fm. Recently the band were long-listed for the Glastonbury emerging talent competition, described as 'a breath of fresh air' by Under the Radar Magazine, and went on to showcase at Ireland Music Week.

Fontaines D.C. members hand chose frontwoman Abbey Addenbroke-Sheriff for their scholarship. “She’s brilliant – it’s exciting to hear such raw talent,” Carlos O’Connell, Guitarist of Fontaines D.C. for NME.

From raw and contagious to ethereal and personal, the five-piece's live sets possess a cathartic desperation "reminiscent of the very best Seattle grunge bands of yesteryear." - The Goo Magazine.

Abbey Addenbroke-Sheriff - Vocals

Evan Carty - Guitar

Adam Patterson - Guitar

Isaak Foley - Bass

  • A wet wind cries as January dies

You know your love is my demise

She tore the substance from your seams and left a painted stranger as she fades into a dream

If we fall, will you follow me?

Blindly, Blissfully, I know how it feels to be free

    Come and cure my apathy

Be my architecture, fade into a dream

If we fall, will you follow me?

Blindly, Blissfully, I know how it feels

If we fall, then will I belong

    where I’ve been all along?

I know how it feels to be free

(how it feels to be free)

When you’re rid of my company

I’ll be waiting like a dog at a grave

If we fall, will you follow me?

    Blindly, Blissfully

If we fall, then we’ll be apart

    Then maybe we’ll start

to know these gestures off by heart,

    these gestures of our hearts.

  • January London Road was flooded in the rain

Buses running late from school I nearly missed my train

Feburary, Winter blues was filling up my hair

Solitude had conquered me and laid the season bare

If you close your gentle eyes

Would I ever know you died?

When the curtain falls you’ll say

    Why did nobody wake me?

Barely even loving though he’ll break an arm for you

in his entertainment, method actor, frown on cue

Of all the hope and love that you share with me in dreams

We wake to barren hillsides sodden at their seams

If you close your gentle eyes

Would I ever know you died?

When the curtain falls you’ll say

    Why did nobody wake me?

  • Looming day that I dread

Turning grey the words I say

    It’s all in my head

    Then the image falls away

    When the night is over

and the inky sky turns red

    still I’m barely sober

    hallucinated all I said

I ache when you’re not here

and more when you are near

    Cathedral of a heart,

and the choir when we’re apart

    sings only hymns

Stronger is the joy we share

but fragile is the one I crave

When I blink and break my stare

I’m turning round to see my grave

I ache when you’re not here

and more when you are near

    Cathedral of a heart,

and the choir when we’re apart

    sings only him

  • Nail through my hand

    Was your leaving planned?

    I’d understand

    Please, prove me wrong

    that I belong

    where I long to be

    In this moment

    Slowly sinking from above

    Like you mean it

leave nothing but the bones of my love

    Breathe just to say

The honour’s mine in every way

    Now forever lives

    cast away what longing gives

    In this moment

    Slowly sinking from above

    Like you mean it

leave nothing but the bones of my love

    Nothing but the bones

    Take it to the bone

    nothing, no

    In this moment

    Slowly sinking from above

    Like you mean it

leave nothing but the bones of my love

    And in his image

    Slowly falling from above

    Like you mean it

leave nothing but the bones of my love

  • Those honest thoughts of martyrdom

and unchanging angle of the sun

That plagal smile to bind me there

    I wouldn’t rather anywhere

    I bare the ambient decay

of the illusion you would stay

    The moment whispers every day

    I’ve never been further away

In the will of the sun, how…

From the ashes, begun, how, you know how

    I bare the ambient decay

of the illusion you would stay

    The moment whispers every day

    I’ve never been further away

  • Spring day melts into dreams

    warping in memory

    forever fields of summer

    Though past, the winter echoes

through the grace that shaped your face

    hands hold he ghostly porcelain

    won’t you let her in?

    Falling into sleep

and knowing what you mean to say when she wakes you the next day

    talk about your dreams

distracted by the way you feel when you find out they were real

I’m moulded in the image of your decay and here I’ll stay

    forever fields of summer

Though past the winter echoes through the warm and velvet sky

no word can shake the grey within

    won’t you let her in?

    Falling into sleep

and knowing what you mean to say when she wakes you the next day

    talk about your dreams

distracted by the way you feel when you find out they were real

    hey,

This is the cycle of our lives

    and there’ll always be another

This is the cycle of our time

    and there’ll always be another

    and there’ll always be another

  • What once was cavernous of mind has now been left behind

Now I’m stuck between a statue, a figure, an aching dream

    A statue, a figure, a dream

    Did you want to forget?

    What hasn’t happened yet

And now you’re stuck between a statue, a figure, an aching dream

    A statue, a figure, a dream

    Visions falling back to me

Now I see the way that the light falls on London

    Now that the future’s undone

    Did you come to regret?

    What hasn’t happened yet

And now you’re stuck between a statue, a figure, an aching dream

    A statue, a figure, a dream

    Visions falling back to me

Now I see the way that the light falls on London

    Now that the future’s undone

  • Body remembers emotion that mind forgot

Silently knowing its beyond an afterthought

Not young and not old, this shimmering in between

Its only forever that bled out since you were seventeen

Feel the blood run in places it shouldn’t be

I’m half here, and nowhere, only vague in memory

    Hold me gently,

It was just a dream but it still affects me

    Always here

    You’ll have me here

    Always and always
